BDAI would like to thank all our community members who attended our Advocacy in Action Retreat! We hope you left the event feeling more confident in your power as an advocate.
If you missed the event or would like a review you can download our handout here.
This handout outlines our advocacy priorities and will serve as a guide for our next community advocacy step: Virtual Legislative Visits!
In the handout there is also mention of Accumulator Adjuster Prohibition - a current effort being led by the Policy Team at the National Hemophilia Foundation to get President Biden to use his administrative authority to disallow the practice of co-pay accumulators federally. You can help with this, as an individual, by reaching out to your US Congressional Office and asking the member to sign on to the McEachin-Davis letter. This is so easy to do. Just fill in your name and address in this link and your elected officials in Washington will hear your concern: Phone2Action campaign.
*In Illinois, while we have already passed a law protecting us from Accumulator Adjustors on commercial plans, state legislators are considering HB2948 in committee. This would allow Accumulator Adjustors for High Deductible Plans. We are working with the Legislator who introduced this piece of legislation, the Department of Insurance and other policy leaders and hope to have our concerns addressed before this is voted out of committee. BDAI – along with NHF and other chronic disease groups – have registered our opposition to this legislation. We will keep the community up-to-date at this moves forward.
If you have any questions about our advocacy efforts or how to help, contact Bob at brobinson@bdai.org.
We'd also like to thank all our sponsors, exhibitors, and speakers - without you this event would not have been possible!
