Ruby Connection- a women’s virtual group

Bleeding Disorders Alliance Illinois has partnered with Hemophilia Foundation of Michigan (HFM) to bring the Ruby Connection program to Illinois. Adult women in the bleeding disorders community will have the opportunity to come together for online social experiences that include an educational speaker or activity while connecting with other women in the community. The group is open to women affected by a bleeding disorder or involved in the bleeding disorder community.

Register to join Genny Moore & Mayra Cantu on Tuesday, December 9th at 7pm CT for BDAI’s 2nd virtual session. The Ruby Connection Program provides a space for women affected by bleeding disorders or involved in the bleeding disorders community to connect, learn, and socialize.

Through HFM's generous support, a grant has been provided to reimburse meals (up to $30) for attendees who RSVP at least two weeks in advance, actively participate, and have their cameras on during the session.

Pathfinders with GutMonkey

The great outdoors is for everyone with this accessible invitation to a local nature spot. For individuals, friends, and families, Pathfinders events are specially crafted to bring together folks affected by all bleeding disorders. We invite families and folks from all walks of life to discover the beauty of the outdoors while forging lasting connections with others who understand the journey.

 

Program is facilitated by GutMonkey whose mission is to provide foundational, life-changing experiences for folks with chronic health conditions that improve health outcomes, build communities, dismantle stigma, and increase awareness.  

 

Event Highlights

  1. Empowering nature walk, stroll, and roll: Venture through beautiful trails, surrounded by the calming presence of nature. The walk is thoughtfully designed to accommodate all fitness levels, ensuring everyone can participate at their own pace.

  2. Educational Insights: Your knowledgeable GutMonkey facilitator will share valuable information about managing bleeding disorders in the great outdoors. Learn tips, tricks, and safety measures to embrace the beauty of nature with confidence.

  3. Supportive Community: Connect with other families and individuals in the bleeding disorders community, fostering a sense of camaraderie and understanding. Share experiences, stories, and triumphs, knowing you are not alone on this journey.

  4. Awareness and Advocacy: Raise awareness about bleeding disorders and advocate for improved resources and support within the community. Together, we can create a stronger voice for positive change.

  5. Celebrating Resilience: Commemorate the resilience of the bleeding disorders community through inspiring moments shared during the event.

 

Pathfinders is made possible through a healthcare contribution from Sanofi.

 

Program will take place rain or shine. Trail mix bar offered before the hike. Pizza lunch served after.

Fall Family Fun at Windy Acres

BDAI is back at Windy Acres Farm for our second annual Fall Family Fun.  This Community Connecting event is bigger than last year with opportunities to meet with our industry partners in a casual setting, along with a few amazing education sessions sprinkled throughout the day.  Don't forget the great raffle at the end of it!. Público Objetivo: Pacientes y Cuidadores En este resumen se abordan temas como afrontar una enfermedad crónica, comunicarse con el equipo de atención médica y otras personas, las consideraciones financieras de la atención médica a lo largo de la vida y la importancia de mantenerse físicamente activo con actividades adecuadas. Esta discusión incluye módulos sobre la comunicación con el equipo de atención médica, mantenerse físicamente activo, la gestión de su atención, el apoyo al tratamiento y una revisión del seguro.

Podemos ofrecer una tarjeta de regalo para una cena de $25.00 que se enviará por correo después del evento a quienes participen y dejen sus pantallas encendidas todo el programa. Será para las primeras diez familias que se registren.

Adversity, Strength, and Resilience

Target Audience: Patients and Caregivers This overview addresses topics such as coping with chronic illness, communicating with your healthcare team and others, financial considerations of healthcare throughout life, and the importance of staying physically active with appropriate activities. This discussion includes modules on communicating with your healthcare team, staying physically active, managing your care, treatment support, and an insurance review.

We can offer a $25.00 dinner gift card that will be mailed after the event to those who participate and leave their screens on for the entire program. It will be for the first ten families to register.

Rise Together- Virtual Teen Advocacy Retreat

Learn to advocate and be the voice for your bleeding disorder from the comfort of your own house.

Join BDAI and HFM teens (ages 13-18) with other powerful advocates as we embark on how to share your stories with your representatives, what every day advocacy looks like, mixed in with lots of fun.
