  • Emergency Rental Assistance

    • The Illinois Housing Development Authority developed the Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA) Program to support Illinois tenants unable to pay their rent due to a COVID-19-related loss of income. Tenants whose application is approved will receive a one-time grant of $5,000 paid directly to their landlord to cover missed rent payments and prepay payments through December 2020, or until the $5,000 is exhausted, whichever comes first. Applications will NOW be accepted until August 28 (due to an expected high volume, tenants are encouraged to apply quickly).   • La Casa Norte Supportive Housing

    • Pa’Lante Scattered Site Supportive Housing: Permanent supportive housing, case management, employment, therapy, education, and health services are available for young adults ages 18-24 who are experiencing chronic homelessness AND a disabling condition.     • Casa Corazon: This program is geared towards unaccompanied youth who are experiencing homelessness. They have 45 emergency beds, meals, laundry, showers, drop-in centers with day programming and meals, and 1-on-1 time with a case manager.   • Stimulus Check Eligibility and Assistance

    • Did you get your stimulus check? Many people qualify to receive a $1200 economic impact payment through the cares act. Visit www.getmypaymentIL.org to see if you are eligible (even if you are unemployed or experiencing homelessness), find out what action you need to take to get your payment, and find help getting banked or setting up direct deposit to get your payment faster. If you do not have internet, call 1-888-553-9777 (disponible en espanol).

  • FREE Food Box & Produce (Englewood Community)

    • Englewood partners along with the Greater Chicago Food Depository has organized a mobile “pop-up” food distribution events to provide access to a variety of healthy and nutritious food, including fresh produce and shelf-stable items to residents of Englewood. Food boxes and produce are available on a first-come first-serve basis until supplies is exhausted.

      • Dates: Monday August 24th and August 31st from 10:00AM to 12:00PM at Bass Elementary School (6500 S. May).

  • Drive-up Food Bank

    • Instituto del Progreso Latino hosts a drive-up food bank every Monday and Wednesday from 9:00AM to 11:00AM at the Instituto Health Sciences Career Academy at 2520 S. Western Avenue – enter from the alley on 25th street. For more information, visit www.institutochicago.org or 773-890-0055. The drive-up food bank is open to students, families, and community members. Produce, meat, and dairy boxes are distributed weekly. Please follow social distancing and masking guidelines. QUANTITIES ARE LIMITED.

    • The Chicago Department of Public Health will be giving back-to-school vaccines at NO COST in August from 10:00AM to 2:00PM at the following locations:

      • August 19: Richard J. Daley Elementary School

      • August 21: John L. Marsh Elementary School

      • August 24: Curtis Elementary

  • EZRA Back to School Fair

    • EZRA Multi-Service Center presents Back to School Bonanza: A resource fair for families with children. This event is scheduled for September 1st, 11:00AM–1:00PM at 909 W. Wilson Ave. RSVP at 773-467-3842. School supplies are available while supplies last. You will be turned away if you have not RSVP’d for this event.

  • Back-to-school free backpack giveaway

    • Metropolitan Family Services is hosting a back to school event on Friday August 21st from 3PM to 6PM for students entering kindergarten to 7th grade at 3249 N. Central Ave. (there is a parking lot across the street). Over 1,500 backpacks will be given away!

  • Free Health Services – Loyola Medicine Pediatric Mobile Health Unit

    • The Loyola Medicine Pediatric Mobile Health Unit has new locations: Casa Esperanza/Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church & Rock of Ages Baptist Church. Services offered include school physicals, sports physicals, nutrition education, immunizations, health education, and asthma care. Please contact each site to make an appointment for pediatric services:

  • Back to school physicals and vaccines

    1. Chicago public schools is partnering with mobile health care providers to bring vaccinations closer to home. Some locations may also provide school physicals. If your child needs back-to-school medical care, please contact your child’s healthcare provider to schedule an appointment. To find a clinic or provider, go to https://findahealthcenter.hrsa.gov. If you prefer, you can schedule with the mobile provider listed below in both Spanish and English. There are many dates and school locations available.

  • Join The Mayor’s Youth Commission

    • The Office of Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot is calling for applications from young people ages 14 – 19 who want to collaborate with City Leaders to impact the future of Chicago. This is a great opportunity for the Pediatric Bleeding Disorders community in Chicago to have its voice heard!
